Our Story
We Didn't Find
This Place — We're From It
Two brothers from Jibhi, ancestral land, and a name borrowed from a show about kingdoms in the cold north.
How It Began
Our Ancestors Were Here.
We Just Built Something on It.
We're two brothers from Jibhi. Not people who discovered this valley on a weekend trip and decided to move here — our family has been on this land for generations. The apple orchards, the slope above the village, the view of the valley opening west at sunrise — we grew up looking at all of it.
In 2023, we decided to build. The land was already ours. The location — elevated above Jibhi, with open valley views on one side and the forest edging in on the other — needed nothing added to it. We just needed to put up walls that didn't ruin it.
The name is a straightforward confession: we were big Game of Thrones fans. A fortress in the north, in the cold, surrounded by forest — it felt right. The Himalayas don't need a poetic explanation. Neither did the name.
Timeline
Winterfell opens with two A-frame treehouses on our ancestral land above Jibhi village. The views — open valley on one side, apple orchards on the other — do the rest.
We add the Log House, a larger stay built from local timber for groups and families. Later that year, Wintersoul is born as our sister brand — quieter, more remote.
Two more cottages join Winterfell, each designed around a different aspect of the land and view. Six stays across two brands, all on the same hill we grew up on.
Wintersoul expands to Tandi — a second valley, a different pace. The Tirthan and the Uhl, two rivers, two characters.
We plan to open a full restaurant at the main Winterfell property. Real Himachali food, cooked properly, with a view worth sitting at.
What We Stand For
The Winterfell Way
Slow by Design
No schedules, no organised tours you didn't ask for. Winterfell is built for guests who want to set their own pace — or have no pace at all.
Born Here
We're not outsiders who discovered this valley. We grew up in it. Our ancestral land, our neighbours, our mountain — that's not a story we tell, it's one we live.
Honestly Local
The people who build, maintain, cook, and guide at Winterfell are all from the valley. When you spend here, it stays here.
Radical Privacy
No events, no loud parties, no shared spaces with strangers. Every cottage is a private booking. Your stay is entirely yours.
Where We Are
jibhi, Tirthan Valley
Winterfell sits above Jibhi village — not inside it. The property looks out over the open valley with the Tirthan range ahead and forest along one flank. Our apple orchards run along the other side. It is not a hidden-in-the-trees situation; the views are wide and unobstructed.
Jibhi is approximately 40km from Aut on NH-305, around 9km from Banjar. Chandigarh is roughly 230km; Delhi around 480km. Detailed arrival coordinates and road instructions are shared with every booking.
